Upgrade Ubuntu CE version 5 to Ubuntu CE version 6
Follow these steps if you wish to upgrade ubuntu CE version 5
First, upgrade to ubuntu karmic:
- Open a terminal window (Applications→Accessories→Terminal), and execute the following commands:
- sudo apt-get remove wine
- It would remove ubuntu-ce as well, answer ‘Yes’ when needed.
- sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
- sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get safe-upgrade
- sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Then, convert Ubuntu to Ubuntu CE:
32 bit Systems:
- Open a terminal window (Applications→Accessories→Terminal), and execute the following command:
- sudo wget http://ubuntuce.com/repos/Ubuntu_CE/apt/sources.list.d/karmic_i386.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntuce.list; sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ubuntu-ce
- Answer ‘Yes’ when needed.
64 bit Systems:
- Open a terminal window (Applications→Accessories→Terminal), and execute the following command:
- sudo wget http://ubuntuce.com/repos/Ubuntu_CE/apt/sources.list.d/karmic_amd.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntuce.list; sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ubuntu-ce
- Answer ‘Yes’ when needed.
